Camaçari Industrial Complex began its operation in 1978. This was the first planned petrochemical complex of the Country, installed in the municipality of Camaçari, 50 kilometers far from Salvador, the capital of the State of Bahia.
As the largest Integrated industrial complex in the Southern Hemisphere, it is composed of over 90 chemical and petrochemical companies, in addition to other production facilities such as cellulose, copper metallurgy, textiles, automobiles, beverages and services.
Due to the attraction of new enterprises to Bahia, the Camaçari Industrial Complex is experiencing a new cycle of expansion, generating more job opportunities and income generation for the Northeast region of Brazil. The presence of a Ford automotive assembly plant, as well as other enterprises such as Continental and Bridgstone/Firestone, consolidate the diversification cycle of the Camaçari Industrial Complex and increases the integration perspectives for the petrochemical and the transformation industry sector.
